The CoolMeds Classic isothermal case has been specially designed and validated to safely transport insulin and other temperature-sensitive medication between 2-8°C for 12 to 18hrs*.
Please note that pens should be no wider than 1.8 cm in diameter in order to fit into the Classic. The other CoolMeds cases are designed for thicker pens.
It is important 2-8°C medication doesn't go over 8°C or below 2°C, where it is in danger of freezing, as this may affect the efficacy of the medication. Travelling can be stressful enough without having the added worry of whether your medication is safely at 2-8°C during the trip.
What makes the CoolMeds Classic special is that it is fitted with an integrated digital thermometer, which gives you peace of mind in being able to monitor the medication's temperature without having to open the case. The thermometer batteries (2 x AG13 batteries) are also included and if you need spare batteries, these can be bought at most hardware stores and supermarkets.
There are 4 elasticated loops for the pens and a netted pouch to ensure that your medication is kept in the desired position in the case (suitable for pens, vials and syringes). As a guide, the internal space accommodates 4 pens that are up to 18 cm long and 1.8 cm in diameter. The case is made from high-quality material with multiple layers of insulation for maximum protection.
It comes with 2 CoolMeds Cold Packs which offer a long cooling effect and durability during frequent use. These can also be bought separately as it is good to have spares and they should be replaced every 24 months as the gel denatures over time. Also included are 2 CoolMeds Buffer Boards which absorb excessive cold and protect medication from freezing or overcooling.

It is highly recommended you do at least one trial run before your journey to make sure you are familiar with using the case especially because conditioning the cold packs is the most important step. It will also give you time to ask us any questions you might have.

My daughter needed this item last minute as she had just started taking medication for her eczema that needed refrigeration and was travelling abroad a couple of days after receiving the medication and we had not realised the complications with going abroad, being new to this. The staff were really helpful and we were able to order the bag for the next morning which gave us enough time to condition the freezer packs before she travelled. It was reassuring to know we were purchasing something that was properly designed for it's job - something you can't risk in this situation. It was really helpful having the thermometer to ensure the temperature was right. It really helped put my daughter's mind at rest as well. There was a slight issue at Manchester airport security with the contents of the freezer packs, but they tested it and it was ok. I'd recommend this product and the company. The customer service was really good. And they were very proactive. Really pleased we used this company.

As I've newly been prescribed a medicine injection pen and going by train on holiday I needed something to keep the pen at 2 - 8 for a journey that will take about 8 hours. The instructions are really impressively clear and I've practiced as advised (using a marker in place of the pen) and the case kept cool for hours, from 9am in the morning, and still well below 8 degrees by the time I was going to bed after 11pm. Reassuringly impressive. It's price reflects the quality.

We are going to New Zealand in November and my wife has medication that needs to be refrigerated. We looked at different products and this one came out tops. We followed the instructions to the letter and found that the product was still cold after 20 plus hours and that should be perfect for our journey.

As I saw they supply to the NHS, I expected a good quality product. And I can confirm it is definitely good quality product. I bought one for a trip in Europe, I have an extended stay in the U.S. and will buy another soon. Takes a little while to understand the 'conditioning' of the ice packs. Practice it a few times with empty med pens. The leaflet how to use it is well written. Highly recommend this product.

What do I do if I have missed my delivery?
