What does the fixed walker boot do?
The fixed walker boot is a supportive boot designed to stabilise the ankle and encourage a normal gait.
What is this designed to help with?
The walker boot is designed to help those with a sprained ankle, stable fracture of the fibula, talus, calcaneus and medial malleolus, those who have had ligament, soft tissue and tendon surgery or forefoot or midfoot injury.
What are the benefits?

Pressure Relief: The walker boot provides support and helps distribute weight evenly, reducing pressure on the injured or surgically treated ankle. This can aid in the healing process by minimizing stress on the affected area.

Aiding Propulsion: The design of the walker boot aids in the natural walking motion by facilitating proper propulsion. This is crucial for maintaining a normal gait and preventing further strain on the injured ankle.

Rocker Bottom Design: The rocker bottom design assists in achieving a more natural walking pattern. It allows for a smooth transition from heel to toe, promoting a balanced and comfortable gait.

Reduced Heel Strike Force: By reducing the force of heel strikes on the calcaneus (heel bone), the walker boot contributes to comfort and helps alleviate pain that might be associated with walking or standing.

Adjustable Straps: The presence of adjustable straps allows for a customized and secure fit. This ensures that the walker boot can tailor the boot to their specific needs and preferences, enhancing both comfort and effectiveness.

Overall, fixed walker boots play a valuable role in rehabilitation and recovery by providing support, promoting proper movement, and minimizing discomfort during the healing process. It's important, however, to follow medical advice and wear the boot as prescribed to maximize its benefits.
